NEWS UPDATES

2013.11.09. 20:43:36 UT-kor interesting, double meteor from Debrecen, Hungary. Two disintegrated bodies are clearly seen for seconds.

2012 April 29 --- 19:08:10 UT

Visual observers reported from the SW part of Hungary this bright fireball moving paralell to the horizon from East to West. The average of brightess estimations was -8 mag. In Croatia multiple cameras recorded the event and the members of CMN reconstructed its atmospheric trajectory. Entry velocity was about 8-9 km/s and it terminated at 46-47  km elevation. Visual observers reported explosion and fragmentation, later it was confirmed by camera data at H=50km. (On the map the red line is the 3D trajectory, white lines are its projection to the surface and viewing angles by CMN cameras.

This special fireball with multiple flashes was captured by the Mintron camera in Becsehely (Hungary), from the Nagykanizsa Astronomical Association's observatory. More details are on the NAE page. (Click on the image for animated version.)

2011 October 26 --- 02:41:05 UT (local time 04:41:05)

A giant fireball showed up in the field of the camera located in the BKMÖ observatory in Baja, Hungary. In the first couple of frames the dark sky background is clearly visible, however the final flash just saturated most of the image. The MetRec software was able to record the event till this moment. The fireball reached its maximum brightness at -3.9 magnitude.
